

Learning from the land is an umbrella organisation allowing individuals and organisations to run training in the local community.

I love living in the country, being close to wildlife and seeing the daily changes in the natural world, feeling part of this earth. Learning from the land allows me to take this passion directly to other people, to meet like-minded folk and to see how children thrive from connecting with the natural world.
A few things to know about me that help me to work as project administrator at LFL:
- Started up and ran my own
company for 10 years with £1.5m turnover
- Worked in broadcasting, photography, publishing, catering, marketing, retail
and horticulture
- Lived in five countries on three continents and understand the impacts of
globalization
- Trustee for Somerset Wildlife Trust, chair of 10 Parishes Community Plan group
- Qualified as Adult Basic Education tutor and as TEFL teacher
- Held solo and joint photography exhibitions across the southwest
Frank Blaker - teacher and builder
Frank has thirty years experience teaching people of all ages including adults and children with additional educational challenges. Building full time concentrating on traditional and sustainable methods and materials.
- First class honours degree in sculpture ( Maidstone
college of art ) and PGCE ( Goldsmiths college ).
- Ten years experience of lime and cob techniques in somerset.
- Teacher and disability advisor in mainstream and special school settings.
- Actively engaged in teaching sustainability through schools and colleges in
Somerset.
- Good, working knowledge of small building projects ranging from planning issues
to estimating and budgeting.
- A determined program of personal development through short courses, networking
and reading.
George Aykroyd - Building Co-ordinator.
George worked in the media before learning strawbale building in France. Since moving to Wiveliscombe he has worked with Frank on a range of sustainable building projects and loves sharing his technical and practical knowledge with others in the community.
